Tony Kart Wins Manufacturers Trophy for Second Year Running.

Well the 2019 National Sprint Championships are over and what a weekend it was!

For the second year running, we have left the event as the annual Manufacturers Cup champion, a title that does not happen with out the support from all our Tony Kart customers and wider team. Something we greatly appreciate.

On top of that, we are also immensely proud to have had the current Australian Supercars Champion Scott McLaughlin, join the Tony Kart team this year and his presence on and off track was truly impressive. The profile of the entire meeting was raised to a new level for karting in New Zealand. The number of spectators was incredible, and Scott was only too happy to stop and talk to any of the fans and do autographs and pictures at any time of the day.

When it came to the racing, Scott turned up on Thursday morning with only 2-3 hours sleep after a delayed flight but hopped in the kart and within the first run, was straight on the pace. The whole team was ecstatic to see him get 2NZ in the Rotax Heavy Class. To be able to turn up and achieve so highly after many years away from kart racing with no prior testing before the event was awesome to see. It was an incredibly tough field with past and present champions so it showed a real testament to his professionalism

The Tony Kart results certainly didn’t stop there though. We gained a class win with Louis Sharp in Mini Rok, followed by another six podium places and a further six top-6 finishes.
