Dunlop Slicks DFH tyres are the current control dry tyre for Kartsport New Zealand until 2021. These Dunlop kart tyres are suitable for Cadets, Mini ROK, Junior Rotax, DVS, Senior Rotax, Briggs and Raket 120.
Slick tyres are designed exclusively for competition. Slicks have the largest possible contact with the road due due to not cutting any grooves into the thread of the kart tyres. The lack of grooves maximises traction and gives unrivalled grip on dry tracks. Slicks are developed to become ‘sticky’ as they accumulate heat in order to give better adhesion to the track surface. However, Slicks are not suitable for racing on wet tracks. When water gets trapped between the tyre contact area and the track surface, traction is reduced. Wet weather racing requires wets. Wets work in the opposite way to slicks. Instead of gripping the road surface, their deep treads remove water from the contact area through grooves. This maintains traction even in wet conditions. If you try to race with slicks in heavy rainfall, you won’t stay on the track.
Dunlop Slicks DFH tyres provide excellent grip, performance and usable life. No other 5 inch dry tyre will come close to performance and wear of this tyre.
